Rejoice.... and Weep

"Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep" Romans 12:15

Today we rejoice with those who rejoice:

The beautiful bride arriving at Westminster Abbey.

Her dress was simply stunning. She was simply stunning.

He did - eventually - manage to push the ring onto her finger!

The newlyweds then pleased the hundreds of thousands of well-wishers with a kiss on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

We truly do rejoice with them, and pray God's blessing on them.

But today, we also weep with them that weep:

The family who write at A Baker's Dozen Barnhouse News are devasted. The blog post you will read at this link was written less than a week ago, but following the tornadoes of this past week, this family has lost everything. Worse, though, than the loss of all their worldly possession, Mr Lee, husband and father, was killed when their home was destroyed.

Mrs Lee is having to cope with the death of her husband. Their children are having to cope with the loss of their father. Obviously, wordly possessions do not compare with family members, but to have lost the head of their home - their 'rock' - and to have to grieve without the comforts of home and their familiar surroundings, is an unimaginably difficult burden.

Read about Mr Lee's last act of protecting his family here.

Such joy for Prince William and his bride today.

Such devastating sorrow for Mrs Lee and her children.

Both the rejoicing couple, and the sorrowing family are in our prayers. We can only take them to the Lord, who is able to supply all their needs - whether spiritual, emotional or material.

"Blessed be our God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of all mercies, and the God of all comfort" 2 Corinthians 1:3

  2. Anne, Jeff just spoke with the Pastor of the Lee family. He commented on how the two older daughters, who are in the hospital, are giving GOD the glory and praise for saving the children. We must continue to pray for this dear family in the weeks ahead.

    Excellent verse to share.

  3. I will certainly keep the Lee's in my prayers. The storms this year in our area have been unbelievable. Even our President after visiting the area, said he had never seen anything like it.

I watched all of the Royal Wedding today, twice, They make such a lovely couple and seem so happy.

  4. Such an appropriate scripture... I feel so odd; a strange mixture of emotions; What times we live in. We have been praying for these families. I cannot imagine how difficult it all is. I know the grace of the Lord becomes very present when we face such difficulties.

The Royal couple looks lovely. It is nice to see their loveliness.
    Much Love,
    Pam

  6. The wedding was absolutely delightful & very British! We allowed Zai & Ellie to stay up late to watch it - which was so much fun!
However I am so sad to hear about Mr Lee - I've been praying for her, but have only found that blog very recently & hadn't put two- &-two together that it was the same family other bloggers had written about. I will continue to uphold them in my prayers.
What a very applicable Bible verse you used.

  7. Happy royals are lovely, but my heart goes out to the grieving family. What contrast. We had tornadoes in our area Wednesday and I was terrified. We had one hit our farm 17 years ago. It swooped up a tree less than six feet from our house. Thankfully not the house. The sky was orange first then everything went dark because the tree had been thrown down by the windows. It blew a roof off one of our barns then. It left an indelible impression on me!I hear the word and I have to keep from panicking. We were fortunate during that storm 17 years ago and again this week, but it makes me so sad to hear of all the people who were affected. I cannot believe the tornado activity and the weather patterns more recently.
