God's Fingerprint ... on My Vegetables

Come and see the Romanesco...

...No, no... come closer...

Even closer, and look into the middle...

See the Romanesco forming? Isn't that absolutely stunning?

Have a look at this video and marvel at the beauty of our mathematically perfect creation.

The Golden Mean Spiral can be seen in my Romanesco.

It is seen in sunflower seed formations; the petals of flowers; and in sea shells.

It is now known that even the spiral of the galaxies are in proportion to this ratio.

What wondrous expressions these are of the infinite beauty that is in the One who is 'altogether lovely'. And they ought to make us fall down and worship the One who is worthy of all praise and honour.

The more we learn about this awesome creation, the more glimpses we get into the infinite majesty, wisdom, and power of the Creator. I don't know about you, but it makes my heart sing these words:

O Lord my God! when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy hand hath made
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze

And when I think that God His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die-I scarce can take it in
That on the cross my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home-what joy shall fill my heart!
Then shall I bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

  1. Wow, that is really gorgeous! It also explains why galaxies are so hard to draw. :-)

  3. It makes me sing that song too! "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; Romans 1:20 Thanks for sharing!

  4. That is truly marvelous. My children and I just watched a video about mathematics a few months back and learned about this "Fibonacci sequence" of numbers. It is amazing.

You know what else is awesome about the Romanesco? Each tiny floret (as visible even in your picture) is peaked and is an identical but smaller version of the whole thing!

  5. Thanks, Anne. I'm feeling "complain-y" this morning, so this post did my whiny soul good. One of my all-time favorite hymns!

  9. Your post just blessed me. I share your enthusiasm about vegetables and the Lord's amazing creation. I love every last color and design. Every critter and growing thing is just another example of what I call God's "Hallmark". I don't know how anyone can look around them and not know there is a God.

We have the "Donald in Magicland" video. Watching your link made me want to get it out and watch it again. I don't think Eddie has seen it, but he should see it. I love those old Disney films. Also, love that Hymn.

Hope you have a great Homescoolers Day. I look forward to seeing a post on it and finding out about your visiting American.
    Much Love,
    Pam
