Comfort for a Heavy Heart

A dear friend sent this to me yesterday, when she knew I was feeling 'heavy laden'.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me, is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward to Thy glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, spread His praise from shore to shore!
How He loveth, ever loveth, changeth never, nevermore!
How He watches o’er His loved ones, died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth, watcheth o’er them from the throne!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, love of every love the best!
’Tis an ocean full of blessing, ’tis a haven giving rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus, ’tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory, for it lifts me up to Thee!

What a blessing to have Christian friends who have stores of blessings which they are willing to share with souls needing some tender care.

I was also able to spend some time on the phone to a friend who lives close by. Just being able to talk about the way I felt, and listening to wise advice did my heart and mind so much good.

There is no friend like the 'Friend that sticketh closer than a brother', the Lord Jesus Christ. But He knows how we are made; He knows we are but dust; He knows that we are weak, and that we were created to have friends, to enjoy each other, and to need the comfort and encouragement of our fellow man.

He knows, He understands, and He provides. What a Friend we have in Jesus!

  3. Thank you both. And thank you MM (that makes you sound like Marlborough Man!) for that. This will make our girls laugh - the thought of me being associated with 'stylish' in any way will send them off in hysterics! But thank you.... *it* may not be important, but the thought that *you* were thinking of me is x

  4. Oh so thankful for the friendship in our Lord Jesus, He does know, and He knows who to prompt to send our way when we need that special encouragement at just the right time. Can't we all testify to those moments? When the right word was spoken? The hug given, the needed conversation? We are His body, here for one another, what a special blessing that is.

    Love you friend, and pray your hurt is being helped through Him! Hugs from across the ocean!
