A Poem for New Year

So what would I like for this coming year?
To sum up is no easy task.
To live and learn and laugh and love
These would be my main asks.

So living and laughing and loving all mixed
In one large family pot,
If things are going to be as we'd like
And surely as they really ought.

To live is something we all surely want
to be kept safe from all ill.
But eternal life I wish for us all
That heart and soul might be filled.

To love my Saviour more and more
Is something I desire to see.
And from His love my love would flow
To all in my family.

To laugh is so good for all our minds
We wish to be happy, not sad.
And if we can laugh again and again,
We'll remember the good not the bad.

We certainly want to learn a great deal
About the world God has made;
And how His plan has worked through the years,
How the stage of History has played.

Of people around this wonderful world
And places we've never seen.
Food they grow, and clothes they wear
In countries we've never been.

And this year I ought to learn much more
About those fabulous sheep
The ones I've mocked and not really loved
The ones Big Brother keeps.

And so at the close of 2010
And the start of another year
we wish to live and laugh a lot
And learn and love, that's clear.

I wish you all a wonderful year
right from the very start.
And thank you all for visiting me
Since I started this blog last March.

For reading my weird and wonderful thoughts
For commenting here and there
For letting me know I'm not just talking
Into cyberspace's clear air.

I hope you all have a wonderful New Year. May God bless us all; may we live more to His glory than ever before; may we love our families and friends, and strangers, more than ever before; and may we seek Christ above all else, "for what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?" (Mark 8:36)
