Soon it will be Bonfire Night.
The boys have been collecting wood for the bonfire for the past few weeks, and so the outside of our house looks kind of untidy.
Uuuuh...what d'ya mean, 'Is this any worse than usual?'
'I'll have you know..... Well, ok - not much.'
Just in case you're worrying, the bonfire pile is not in situ.
We have it considerable further from the house. Phew!
We have a Bonfire every year, on the Saturday closest to November 5th.
Updates as they occur...
Looks like a good start! Does it ever get pushed off until a later Saturday (say the 13th) because of, oh, I don't know, too much wind??
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you cleared that up because I was thinking, 'Yikes, that's a bit close to the house!'
ReplyDeleteDo you go the whole hog and have fireworks too? And toffee apples?
I hate to ask, but what is the significance of November 5th? I LOVE bonfires!! Hope you have a fabulous evening!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing all the details. I have read about these bonfires. It sounds like great fun. I think by the looks of it yours is going to be a doozy.
ReplyDeleteLove, Pam
What a big pile of wood! Sounds like great fun!
ReplyDeleteOur burn ban has been lifted, thanks to some much needed rain yesterday. And so we can resume our tradition of having (smaller than yours) fires in the backyard again.
I remember my daughter saying that "remember, remember the 5th of November..." I'm going to have to look it up, it has slipped my mind completely, what that is connected to.
.....Think I'll leave y' all to stew for a wee while!
ReplyDeleteInfo to follow!
Love, Anne x
I forgot that 5th November is a British thing to do!
ReplyDeleteAwww man, I miss bonfires. Townies just don't do them :o( - just don't have the community spirit over here! Or the gardens ;o)
ReplyDeleteCan we come???
ReplyDeleteYou have my son wondering...he is going to try to figure it out before you post the why for the bonfire! Is it related to something in Scottish History?
